Soooo….. the Women’s Rugby World Cup is over! It’s hard to believe that the two huge events for which I was training during 2010 are both over. Was it all worth it? Well, let me first give you an update of the rugby tournament.
With all of the questions that I had about my own ability to live up to the media’s, and my own personal expectations, as soon as I stepped on the field to start the first game any doubts just melted away, being left on the sideline. I was back on the rugby pitch… and I loved it. It felt natural – where I was supposed to be at that moment. And with the honour of starting each of the 5 games we played, I discovered that I WAS still able to contribute to the successes and dynamics of this team. Because of the talent of this team, I was able to do my job as a winger and score another 7 tries for this team, finishing the hard work of the other girls. The final standing may not have been what the team had been hoping and training for, but I am truly glad that I was a part of it.
